Former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar
Some Nigerians have taken to social media to lambast former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar after posting a photo of himself in the farm.
Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has been lambasted on Twitter as many people castigated him for posting a photo showing him nicely dressed while 'pretending' to farm.
The politician had allegedly wanted to use the photo to create awareness on farming and its importance but many interpreted it as another gimmick for his presidential ambition.
Nigerians tackled him for wearing a white kaftan and alleged Rolex watch to the farm. They called it pretence of the highest order and another way to deceive people.
"Politics of 2019: Doesn't look real.True farmers never go to farm flamboyantly dressed." someone said.
Another added: "Na like this pple dey take farm? That ur hublot alone can change someone's life for the better #oloshi."
Someone else wrote: "Real farmers don't have the time to snap pictures. Real farmers are busy in the farm not on Twitter. Real farmers don't dress in agbada."
Responding to the criticism, Atiku wrote: "I have owned this farm since the mid-80s, and it employs a few hundred people.
Does that make me an unreal farmer? #smile." then added: "Rhetoric is an important part of leadership. If you are asking about my contributions to national unity, I would rather others speak for me."
