BREAKING News: Hakeem Belo-Osagie Resigns as Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria
Hakeem Belo-Osagie

The chairman of popular Nigeria's telecommunication company, Etisalat, has resigned his appointment with immediate effect, the company said in a statement.

The chairman of Etisalat Nigeria, Hakeem Belo-Osagie, has resigned his appointment after the restructuring of the telecommunication company.

The resignation is effective immediately.

According to TheCable, Belo-Osagie had planned to leave immediately the banks made the take-over move, but he opted to tarry until a road map for the company was finalised.

A statement from the communications company read;

“The timing of the resignation was strategically delayed till now when stakeholders have agreed a plan and comes more than a week after Mubadala Development Company directors tendered their resignation.

“The development also reflects Belo-Osagie’s deep commitment to protecting the interest of all stakeholders.”

It is now expected that Etisalat Nigeria under its new shareholding structure will navigate through its current loan repayment challenge with minimum impact.

Over the last several months, Belo-Osagie worked extensively with critical stakeholders to prepare clearly articulated strategies and robust road maps that will mitigate the impact of the new shareholding restructuring and realignment on the operations and management of the fourth largest telecoms player in Nigeria.

With this development, the new board will assume control of Etisalat.

We Are Not Part of Your Agitation - Nnamdi Kanu's Community Tell IPOB Leader

We Are Not Part of Your Agitation - Nnamdi Kanu's Community Tell IPOB Leader

The Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku Community in Umuahia north local government area of Abia State on Thursday dissociated themselves from the call for succession as being championed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

This is coming as indigenes of Anambra State under the auspices of Anambra Peoples Assembly (APA), yesterday denounced the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, and his struggle for secession.

DAILY POST reports that the community pledged their support and loyalty to a united and indivisible Nigeria. Isiama Afaraukwu ibeku community is the hometown of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Addressing journalists in a press conference organized by the community on Thursday, an elder statesman, Chief Geoffrey Onyemaobi said the people of Isiama Afaraukwu ibeku was not part of the agitation for sovereign state of Biafra, just as he raised alarm over the invasion of the community by IPOB members.

He explained that on Wednesday, the community was invaded by members of IPOB, with over five hundred vehicles, which led to heavy traffic jam in the area.

According to Onyemaobi, the IPOB members blocked the entire roads in the community and that it took residents of the community about two hours to get home from Umuahia town.

He pointed out that it took him two hours to get Isiama Afaraukwu from the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) junction, Umuahia, appealing to federal and Abia state governments to come to their aid over the invasion of the community by those he referred as ‘outsiders’.

Onyemaobi restated once again that Isiama Afaraukwu ibeku was not supporting break-up of Nigeria, maintaining that they joined other well meaning individuals on the call for Nigeria restructuring.

His words,”They invaded my community, isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku yesterday, that’s on Wednesday".

Drama as Anambra 'Breaks Away' from Biafra

Drama as Anambra 'Breaks Away' from Biafra

A dominant group in the South-eastern part of the country which is resident in Anambra State has broken out of the Biafra struggle following the alleged careless utterances of separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Indigenes of Anambra State under the auspices of Anambra Peoples Assembly (APA), yesterday denounced the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, and his struggle for secession.

The Assembly, which declared that Anambra people will participate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state, warned biafra agitators to maintain a distance from the state.

According to a statement signed by its coordinator, Mazi Nnamdi Okorafor, the group noted that the people of Anambra State are law-abiding and will not be dragged along by any individual or group of persons.

“I will assume that there are no men in Igbo land, if we allow a small boy to drag all of us into war against Nigeria through hate speech,” he said.

Okorafor, who noted that being Igbo does not automatically translate to membership of IPOB, said Kanu is not a leader of the Igbos.

”Nnamdi Kanu is making a fool of himself, very soon his paymasters will distance themselves from him.

He and his illiterate minions will be dancing alone in the market square Unclad. Being Igbo does not mean you are an IPOB member, neither does being an IPOB leader makes you the leader of the Igbos,” he stated.

He also described Kanu as a confusionist who suggest ideas capable of destroying lives, while he left his family in United Kingdom.

”Let truth be told. But with due respect to the right thinking and illustrious sons and daughters of Abia State.

Let me ask these questions, When did an Abia man become wiser than the Anambra man to warrant a confusionist like Nnamdi Kanu to order Anambra people not to vote while his Abia governor is still on seat?

Why would the good, wise and hard-working Anambra sons and daughters listen to a guy man who kept his wife and kids in London come here to suggest what is capable of destroying the lives of young Anambra youths.

Anambra people should not allow anybody to toy with their future and destiny,” Okorafor added.

According to him; “We agree that self-determination is the right of every person or group in Nigeria, that being said. We hereby declare that Anambra state has distanced self from Biafra struggle.

All Biafra activists and agitators are warned to leave Anambra and return to their various states of origin. We are too big to be dragged along by any person or group of persons.

Anambra state indigenes and lawful residents will register and participate fully in the forthcoming governorship elections of November 2017 in the state.” -[Leadership]

Biafra: Ijaw youths warn Nnamdi Kanu over attacks on Jonathan

Biafra: Ijaw youths warn Nnamdi Kanu over attacks on Jonathan
Ex-President Jonathan

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has warned that further attack on former President Jonathan by Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People of Biafra, would be met with appropriate sanctions from Ijaw youths.

The youth council through its Spokesman Daniel Dasimaka, described as uncharitable and disrespectful, Kanu’s comments on ex-President Jonathan.

The umbrella organisation of Ijaw youths said: “It is quite ironic and appalling that anyone will say ex-President Jonathan did nothing for the Southeast, when it is common knowledge in both informed and not-so-informed circles in Nigeria that the Southeast benefited even more than the South south under Dr. Jonathan.

“It is on record that under the then President Jonathan, rehabilitation and expansion works were done on the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport (SMICA), Owerri, Imo State, which he granted an international airport status.

“In terms of appointment, Dr. Jonathan appointed the first female Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mrs. Rose Chinyere Uzoma (an Igbo).

He also appointed the first Southeast Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika and first Southeast Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ogbonnaya Onovo, among others.

“We are calling on the true Igbo leaders to caution Nnamdi Kanu and to bridle his tongue, lest his unguarded rhetoric may strain the good relationship the Igbo and the Ijaw nation, and by extrapolation the South south and Southeast geopolitical zones, have enjoyed over the years.”

So Sad! Tennis Star Venus Williams Kills 78-year-old Man

So Sad! Tennis Star Venus Williams Kills 78-year-old Man
Tennis star, Venus Williams

World's former top-ranking tennis player, Venus Williams has found herself in serious trouble after killing a 78-year-old man in a fatal road crash.

Venus Williams, the world's former top-ranked tennis player, was the driver at fault in a two-car crash in Florida on June 9 that killed a passenger in the other vehicle, according to the initial police report on the incident released on Thursday.

News of the fatal wreck near Williams' home in Palm Beach Gardens surfaced in media accounts on Thursday, days before the 37-year-old athlete was planning to compete at Wimbledon, which begins in England next week.

An accident report filed by the investigating police officer, given to Reuters by the city clerk's office, said Williams was to blame for failing to yield the right of way to another motorist at a four-way intersection.

The report said the other driver, Linda Barson, 68, had just entered the intersection on a green light when she reported seeing Williams' sport utility vehicle "cut across in front" of her and "was unable to avoid crashing into" Williams.

Another motorist who saw the accident also told police Barson had a green light when Williams crossed in front of her.

According to the report, Williams told police she drove into the intersection after exiting from another street on a green light, but stopped at the median break to wait for cross-traffic to clear, then proceeded without seeing Barson.

"The driver of (Williams' car) is at fault for violating the right of way of", the investigating officer concluded.

Barson's passenger, identified in the report as Jerome Barson, 78, was taken to a Florida trauma center. He died 13 days later, according to the Palm Beach county medical examiner.

The police report estimated Williams was traveling at about 5 miles per hour (8 kph) at the time of impact and was not distracted or suspected of any drug or alcohol use.

Williams's attorney, Malcolm Cunningham, did not directly address the accident report's finding that his client was at fault, but said the tennis star was not issued "any citations or traffic violations."

He expressed condolences to the man's family and said he had no reason to believe the accident would affect Williams' plans to play at Wimbledon. There was no indication in the report that she was injured.

"This is an unfortunate accident, and Venus expresses her deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one," Cunningham said.

An attorney for the Barson family did not return a call seeking comment.

Williams is currently ranked 11th in the world and seeded 10th at the Wimbledon tournament, which she has won five times.[Reuters]

Why IBB Should Apologize to Nigerians - Oshiomhole Fires Hot Shots at Ex President

Why IBB Should Apologize to Nigerians - Oshiomhole Fires Hot Shots at Ex President
Adams Oshiomhole

While speaking at the 5th Triennial Delegates Conference of the Petroleum And Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria in Abuja, Adams Oshiomhole has reiterated that IBB owed the nation an apology .

Former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has said that former Military President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, owed the nation apology for contributing to where the country found itself.

Oshiomhole was speaking at the 5th Triennial Delegates Conference of the Petroleum And Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) in Abuja, where he was represented by the General Secretary of the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers, Comrade Issa Aremu.

He claimed that it was under IBB’s regime that “the economy was restructured” and the naira devalued.

“The discussion now is about restructuring and I think those of us in the Labour circle must be careful about some words.

“I heard Babangida talking about restructuring. Although he could have been converted, this is a man under whose tenure the cabinet was dissolved and for almost a month, he was alone, ruling the country.

“I thought that he should have apologised to the whole country, but there is nothing like that from him. But it is now fashionable for him to talk about restructuring.

It was under him that the economy was restructured. He devalued the currency and downsized workers. It is important that we prioritise these terms.”

In the former governor’s view, “what we need to do is organise and not agonise. Let us quit our problems and not quit ourselves.”

“We are giving quit notice to ourselves and as Nigerians we cannot afford that,” he said, adding: “We are just victims of xenophobic attacks.

How can we be looking for global sympathy when misguided South African youths are attacking other African countries that fought for their liberation only to come back home and be giving quit notices to ourselves.

“I think we should quit poverty, lack of electricity, import dependency, exporting crude oil and importing refined products, unemployment, but we should not quit ourselves.

It is time for us to make a case for the amendment of the constitution in such a way that residency should replace citizenship, not indigeneship.

“There are many workers who have worked outside their homes for several years more than their home states.

They should have a right to remain there, contest election. I think that is the way to go.

“Nigerian leaders should think ahead. Africa is the way it is now because Nigerians are no longer on duty.

We must regain Nigeria for posterity. What we need is development and not disintegration.

“Development is the way to go. South Sudan was lured into having a new country and today, they are in a permanent state of war within themselves.

Nigeria cannot afford that. Nigeria should not only remain united, but lead the campaign for a United states of Africa.”

Asking organised labour and all progressive minded Nigerians to rise up and speak for the country, Oshiomhole said “the conference is taking place at a time when Nigeria is facing a lot of challenges.

There has been a lot of discussion about the future of this country.

“The forces of retrogression and backwardness are at work. Progressives groups, which include organised labour, must wake up and speak for Nigeria.

We should advice all those people who are trying to undermine Nigeria to learn from PENGASSAN.

“There is a lot of misinformation, and misconception by our youths that Nigeria is too big and that the only solution for us is to break up.

Yes, Nigeria is big when you compare us to Togo or to Benin or Ghana. But even Ghana, we are only bigger in terms of size, but in terms of budget per capital, Ghana is bigger.”

He said though the government’s attention was on diversification of the economy from oil, diversification must begin from the oil and gas sector itself, with the nation adding value to its oil production by stopping the exportation of crude and importation of refined products.

Oshiomhole said: “It is now fashionable for us to be talking about diversification of the economy, which is fine because of the collapse of price of crude oil as well as the challenges facing the oil and gas industry.

But in most cases when we talk about diversification, the assumption is that we move from oil and gas or other sectors like agriculture and solid minerals.

“In spite of the challenges taking place in this sector, oil and gas industry matters more than ever before and there is no diversification of any sector without the talk of non oil and gas.

“As a matter of fact, no diversification can take place in agriculture and solid minerals without the necessary available resources that are still accruable from oil and gas.

It is obvious that 40 percent of national employment comes from this sector and 95 percent of foreign exchange earning of Nigeria comes from oil and gas, while 16 percent of out GDP also comes from this sector.

“With 37 billion cubit reserve of crude oil as well as 183 billion cubit of gas, which makes us to have 30 percent of total gas reserve of the entire world, it is clear that we cannot ignore the fact that the oil and gas industry still matters.

We should salute all workers in this sector, keeping it alive in spite of all the challenges.

“From the figures we have just been given of our reserve for oil and gas, it is clear that he future of Nigeria lies in the fact that Nigeria is not just an oil producing country, but is gradually becoming a gas producing country.

“The point here is that when we talk about diversification, it is not just moving from one thing to the other.

It is an entire value chain. In fact, the diversification must start from the oil and gas industry first.

We are just exporting crude oil and not adding value the way that we should because there are close to 120 derivatives from crude oil alone.

“There are lots of upstream and downstream activities that can be generated to revive the industry. It has also become fashionable for major operators in the oil and gas to shift the burden on the working people through cut in jobs, downsizing, among others.

I think it is time to revisit some of these issues.”

How Evans derailed and became notorious - Father of Billionaire kidnapper reveals

How Evans derailed and became notorious - Father of Billionaire kidnapper reveals
Mr Stephen Onwuamadike, Evans father

In the sleepy village of Inyaba in Akamili area of Nnewi town, Anambra State, the arrest of kidnap kingpin, Chukwudi Dumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans has brought shame to his family and kinsmen.

His father, Stephen Onwuamadike, who relocated to the community after his business empire collapsed in 1985 after he was defrauded, battles poverty.

The fair-complexioned Onwuamadike told newsmen that since he suffered a reversal of fortune about 32 years ago, he had gone through the pains and agony of suffering without any form of help from anywhere.

The only thing sustaining him for now, he disclosed, is a small poultry business in his compound. Narrating his son’s upbringing to newsmen in his residence tucked behind Immanuel Anglican Church, Evans’ father said he was the youngest millionaire in Nnewi before his business misfortune.

He said people like Innocent Chukwuma (Innoson group) were using their pick-up vans to pick goods from his warehouse located inside his compound, where he was storing motor-spare parts back in the days.

“I used to go to Japan, Singapore, Germany, London, Korea among other countries to import generating sets and motorcycle spare parts.

I found myself in this condition in 1985 when I was duped by 419ners(fraudsters) from Aba in Port Harcourt.

“I built this house in 1984; by that time, this my son Chukwudi (aka – Evans) was only three years old. I took them to many places to give them the good things of life.

The problem of that boy started with his mother in 1986 when I started having problems with her and she was junketing from pillar to post. “Chukwudi my son was enrolled in good schools from nursery to secondary.

I put him in Merchant of Light Boys High school in Oba Before then, he had gone through Summit Nursery School to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Primary School in Awka.

I removed him from those schools when I noticed that the mother was visiting him because I did not want her to infect him with bad spirit”

He said his wife Chinwe, 50, left his house in 1986 leaving her four children behind, with his mother, Margret Onwuamadike, 78.

He explained further that Evans’ mother later came back to his house two years later.

Evans and his family

He said that when his son left Oba Boys Secondary school (Merchant of Light) after two years, he did all he could to persuade him to further his studies to no avail.

He said: “My son (Evans) insisted that he would trade in spare parts and I made arrangement with Cosmas Maduka, through his elder brother, to take him to Lagos, but the boy later rejected the plan, not knowing that he was being negatively teleguided.

“But in 1998, I left Nnewi for Lagos and I was living at Ikotun and started worshipping at T.B Joshua’s church, Synagogue, and when the boy came to me, I gave him money to go back to Nnewi after he found his way to Lagos where he said he had started learning a trade

“So, in 2005 again, he called me that he wanted to marry and I asked him how manage, because I was aware that he was not doing anything tangible, but he told me not to bother, that he needed my presence, which I obliged him.

“Chukwudi Onwuamadike who is being paraded as a kidnapper is my first son; there are other 10 of my children; eight boys and three girls, they were to be 12 but one died.

“After his marriage in 2005, he moved back to Lagos with the wife and since 11 years, my brother, I will tell you that I don’t know his whereabouts.

“The only person who can tell you in and out of his movement, his connections and his dealings is his mother (Chinwe) because they are always discussing on phone and he does not call me.

“Anytime he wanted to call me, he would hide his phone number or any time his mother would be around, he would instruct his mother to give me her phone for me to answer.

“I met him in 2006 when I went for prayers at TB Joshua’s church (in Lagos). the last time I set my eyes on him was in 2012 during the birthday party of Prophet T.B Joshua in Lagos and I asked him what he was doing, he told me he was dealing in drugs.

“My son was a nice young man before he came under strange influences.”

However, he said if Evans was released, he would be the happiest father. According to him, “he is still my son, blood is thicker than water.

Since I was told about this incident on Monday by some people, I have not been sleeping and I have refused to allow my old mother to know about it because she would die immediately;” Stephen Onwumadike narrated.

Also speaking, the Obi of Akamili, 81- year-old Edwin Oduonye, who could not stomach what he called the insult brought on them by their son, slumped on his seat and started crying like a baby.

It took the reporter some minutes to calm him down, but he managed to clean his eyes and revealed that the boy was nice when he was growing up.

The old man popularly known as (Nnanyelugo), said his late wife was the younger sister to the wife of the late Onwuamadike.

“He was a good boy when he was a child, but I believe that he derailed when he started mixing with bad groups.

“This is painful because the boy in question is from my domain and Nnewi at large.

Our people are not known for something like this; they are hardworking people. “I have never seen such a thing before, only God can adjudicate on an issue like this.

The present condition has not only put his family in confusion but the entire Nnewi clan.

Whether dead or alive, he has brought shame to our people,” Oduonye said. Also, 38-year-old Ezenwa Oduonye, who resides in Guinea, revealed that the arrest of Evans was a shocking news to them.

He said when he knew Chukwudi (aka- Evans), he was learning spare parts in Lagos, adding that they had never communicated on phone or seen each other in the last nine years.

Another community leader in the village Chinaedum Obanye revealed that what the man did in Lagos was a taboo in Nnewi kingdom.

He said the people of Nnewi were not known for things like kidnapping or armed robbery, adding: “Whatever you sow, you shall reap”.

Billionaire kidnapper, Evans reveals how much he has in bank

Billionaire kidnapper, Evans reveals how much he has in bank

Notorious kidnap kingpin, Evans, has said he is not a billionaire as reported in the media.

He also reveals how much he has in his bank account, while claiming that he does not make use of his domiciliary account.

Speaking with newsmen, the suspected kidnapper, noted that it would be foolishness to carry such monies he collected from his victims to the bank and further revealed that he used his share of the money to buy houses in Nigeria and in Ghana.

“I am not a billionaire.”

“I don’t have money in my bank accounts.

I may have like N20,000 in some, but the kind of money you are expecting to hear are not in the accounts.

“I have [domiciliary account] but I don’t have money in it. It is only somebody who is a fool that would take such huge amount I collect to the bank.

“I don’t have any property in FESTAC. I only have the two Magodo properties in Lagos, and then another two in Accra.

“These are just the properties I have. However, some people have been saying I have houses all over the world. Some said I have house in South Africa, but I don’t.

“It was not only me who took all the money. I had people working for me and I gave them their shares.

“Instead of keeping the money in bank or somewhere else, I used it to buy houses. I have told the police how much I bought the houses.

“I have told them how much I spent in building the one in Ghana.”

Wanted Nigerian Oil Mogul, Kola Oluko, To Foreclose $50.9m New York Penthouse

Nigerian oil tycoon, Kolawole “Kola” Aluko, owes a European bank millions of dollars for a mortgage he took out to purchase a $50.9 million luxury condo in New York, according to the New York Post.

Banque Havilland, based in Luxembourg, issued a $35.3 million loan to Mr. Aluko to purchase the 79th-floor penthouse at 157 East 57th Street in New York, but the oil tycoon has missed several payments, leading the bank to force a sale of the property next month.

Kola Aluko's penthouse is on the 79th floor of the One57 skyscraper on a stretch of 57th St., NYC called "Billionaires' Row"

The New York Post reports that the residential foreclosure could be the biggest in New York history.

The bank has listed Mr. Aluko’s 213-foot yacht as collateral and will collect the mortgage payment it’s owed, which was due last fall, plus interest.

In addition to his mortgage payment, Mr. Aluko owes property taxes and maintenance fees. The New York Post reports that he has not been seen “for some time” and could be hiding in his yacht.

The yacht, which he rented to Jay-Z and Beyonce in 2015 for $900,000 a week, was last registered in the Bahamas on May 3, but since then has been "out of range."

Mr. Aluko is under investigation by the Nigerian government for money laundering in a scandal involving former Minister of Petroleum Diezani Alison-Madueke.

It was alleged that Mr. Aluko, along with Jide Omokore, stole over $1.7 billion in oil assets from the federal government.

Atlantic Energy, a company owned by Mr. Aluko and Mr. Omokore, was granted several lucrative oil contracts, allegedly on the instructions of Mrs. Alison-Madueke.

The Nigerian government subsequently attempted to freeze Mr. Aluko’s assets, including properties in California and Switzerland.

However, authorities have been unable to track down the billionaire, who is believed to be traveling in his yacht.

He has also been declared wanted by British authorities, who requested that Swiss authorities assist them in arresting Mr. Aluko.

Mr. Aluko has recently been selling off his expensive properties. The New York Post reports that he sold a 2.4-acre estate in Montecito, California to Gwyneth Paltrow.

In 2012, Mr. Aluko purchased a mansion in Beverly Hills, California for $14.7 million dollars. He rented the property to singer Ariana Grande before selling it for $13 million in 2016.

The oil tycoon has recently tried selling another New York apartment at 1049 5th Avenue, which he purchased for $8.5 million in 2013. He owes $61,000 in taxes to the city.

How Zamfara State Gov. Abdulaziz Yari Bought $1m US Mansion, Kept Foreign Accounts Two Years After Assuming Office

How Zamfara Gov. Abdulaziz Yari Bought $1m US Mansion, Kept Foreign Accounts Two Years After Assuming Office

Two years after taking office, SaharaReporters can exclusively reveal, Zamfara State governor, Mr. Abudal’aziz Abubakar Yari, bought a property in the United States for a princely sum of $950,000.

The 2.1-acre property is located at 14800 Bowie Farm Court, Bowie Maryland (Zip code: MD 20721) has six full and two half bathrooms with a jacuzzi in the master bedroom.

Deed documents obtained by SaharaReporters from the Circuit Court of Prince George’s County, Maryland, USA, denote Mr. Yari as the sole owner of the property, which was purchased from a limited liability company, K Hovanian Hamptons, located at Creek 11, Delaware.

The company used to be known as Real Property Holding, with an address at Prince George’s County, before changing its name on 25 January 2011.

The deed on the property is dated  August 27, 2012, while the approval of the purchase was granted on 1 November 2012 after Yari paid the princely sum of $950,000 cash, there was no mortgage on the property.

Equally captured on the deed document is the sum of $5,225, which was described as “recordation of tax paid” and $13,300, described as “transfer tax paid”, both offering indications that Mr. Yari operated a foreign account in clear breach of Code 3 of the Code of Conduct Bureau.

A real estate property tax information obtained by Saharareporters from Prince George’s County shows that Governor Yari paid taxes on the property up till date, his 2017 estate tax was $16, 583.10.

Mr. Yari bought the property after his fraudulently awarded N25 billion in road contracts in Zamfara in 2012.

The code of conduct law expressly prohibits certain public officials from operating bank accounts in any country outside Nigeria.

These include the President, Vice President, governor, deputy governor, ministers, commissioners, members of the National Assembly and the Houses of Assembly of the States.

According to the deed document, Mr. Yari signed the agreement in person, with Kimberley Armstead a notary public of Montgomery County State of Maryland, serving as a witness.

Governor Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari

In May, this website exclusively reported that Mr. Yari, Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, is building a 100-room hotel in Lekki, Lagos, with the $3million he stole from the Paris Club loan refund to states.

Aside from the $3million, Mr. Yari was also found to have diverted the sum of N500million from the Paris Club refund to pay off a loan.

He was said to have withdrawn N500million from the N19billion Paris Club refund illegally paid into the account of Nigerian Governors’ Forum as payment to “consultants”.

He deposited the stolen sum into a bank account with a mortgage bank from which he had taken an N800million loan to buy properties in 2013.

This move, SaharaReporters learned, enabled him to renegotiate his debt from N800million to N500million.

Mr. Yari is thought to have trousered the sum of N2.2billion from the sum illegally diverted into the Nigerian Governors’ Forum Account by the Federal Ministry of Finance.

The Senate President, Mr. Bukola Saraki, and his cronies also benefited to the tune of N3.5billion from illegal diversion, which is being investigated by the EFCC.

Officials of the anti-graft agency told SaharaReporters in May that Mr. Yari’s hotel, which is under construction, has been listed as a proceed of crime and will be taken over once the EFCC obtains a court order.

Mr. Yari has denied ownership of any hotel in Lagos, claiming he does not even own a plot in the Nigeria’s commercial capital.

In 2017 over 1000 persons died as a result of a meningitis epidemic with Mr. Yari’s Zamfara leading in the number of deaths.

At the peak of the epidemic, Yari reportedly said the epidemic was the punishment from God against his people for their sins.

Why we have not arraigned Evans – Police

Why we have not arraigned Evans – Police
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni

Reasons were given by the police high command this morning why billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, decided to drag the Nigeria Police to court over his continuous detention.

Evans had on Wednesday dragged the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, the Police Service Commission, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni and the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad to the Federal High Court in Lagos.

In the suit filed by a Lagos-based lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, Evans is claiming that his continued detention is an abridgement of his fundamental human rights.

However, sources at the high command said that it was Evans’ gang members who are yet to be arrested that sought for and got the services of Ogungbeje to frustrate further investigation into the case.

A source said: “Evans gang members who wanted him to go to court before Police will finish investigations that have been leading to their exposure and arrests, hired a lawyer who sued the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and OC SARS.

“They are insisting that Evans should be charged to court.”

It was however, gathered that the Police IRT team expected such a sharp move early enough. The police IRT, it was learnt had equally secured an order of the Federal High Court to detain Evans for at least three months.

The order, police sources told newsmen, was secured last week Thursday. The order covered Evans and all his gang members who have so far been arrested. They are to remain in Police custody for three months.

The source said this is to enable the Police conclude all investigations in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa so that all those involved in the kidnapping ring run by Evans would be brought to book.

The source added: “Unfortunately for them, we can also renew the order after three months, which is what they failed to take into cognizance,” the police said.

“But I am sure we will not even need up to that.

“And their running helter skelter is even helping us as they are daily making mistakes that have been further exposing them.”

Court sentences 8-week-old baby to death

Court sentences 8-week-old baby to death

An 8-week-old baby has been sentenced to death by an European Human Rights Court.

The Court of Human Rights backed British doctors who reported the matter saying it would be kinder to let the ten month old die.

The court gave its verdict on a case of human rights that will compel a couple to allow their sick baby to die.

The parents of the baby, Chris Gard and Connie Yates have been in a long legal battle to save their baby, Charlie Gard, who is suffering from a serious genetic illness.

The baby is currently on life support while treatment options were being considered.

At 8 weeks old, Charlie was diagnosed with mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome and is considered to be only one of 16 babies worldwide with this disease. His condition is progressive and currently incurable and eventually fatal.

Doctors are developing treatments for the various mitochondrial conditions, including the nucleoside treatment Charlie’s parents have been fighting for.

The baby’s parents prayed the court to determine if they, as parents, have the right to continue to provide medical treatments for their son or if he should be allowed to die

The parents of the 10-months old baby wants the court to let them use a potentially life-saving drug from the U.S. on their son. The Gards believe that the drug (which is still experimental), would help their son’s genetic condition rather than allow him to die as doctors have recommended.

Buhari’s health: Kashamu ‘attacks’ Fayose for saying president is on life-support

However, a ruling yesterday by the court held that the application by the parents was “inadmissible.”

The court said that the baby was being exposed to continued pain, suffering and distress in pursuit of treatments that were unsure.

It added that any additional treatment would continue to cause harm to the baby, stressing that its ruling is “Final.”

The EHRC also removed the interim measure to keep Charlie’s life support in place.

A spokesman for Great Ormond Street Hospital, where Charlie has been treated since October, told the parents that there is “no rush” to remove Charlie’s life support, adding that “any future treatment will involve careful planning and discussion.”

The hospital has said that though there is a deadline in place for Charlie, they wouldn’t have to follow it exactly. The discussion and planning will take some days to work out.

Meanwhile, Charlie’s parents have so far raised over £1.3 million through a GoFundMe account for his treatment. With the ruling of the court, the parents are unsure what they want to do with the money.

They plan to donate some to the U.S. hospital willing to treat Charlie, while the rest will be put into a charity for other children with similar mitochondrial conditions, “so that nobody else ever has to go through what we have.”

You’re heating up the polity, Ohanaeze tells Nnamdi Kanu

You’re heating up the polity, Ohanaeze tells Nnamdi Kanu

The  Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an apex socio-cultural organisation of the Igbo, on Thursday, disowned the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and his movement, IPOB.

The President-General of Ohanaeze,  Chief John Nnia Nwodo said this while addressing members of the Anambra State house of Assembly at the Legislative Complex, Awka, Anambra State.

Nwodo who was particularly embittered by the call by IPOB for a boycott of Anambra Election in November, said Kanu had breached the undertaking he took before him (Nwodo) when he was released from detention.

He said, “I’m just being paternal. The way I commended them as my children; is the way I have the right to chastised them when they go wrong. We don’t need this heat up”.

Nwodo’s addressed read in part “News that reached us in the past few days that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB has declared that there will be no election in Anambra in November is shocking and disturbing.

I hereby countermand that declaration as President General of Ohaneze.

“Whereas Ohanaeze understands the marginalization and unfair treatment of Igbos which have given rise to self-determination movements in Igboland, leaders of these movements must not arrogate to themselves the supreme leadership of Igboland.

“Statements of the kind credited to Nnamdi Kanu are provocative, misleading and unproductive.

Why should Anambra people be denied the opportunity to choose their own leader?

Why should any of us who are not from Anambra, no matter how highly placed, descend to the arena and dictate for Anambra people when to vote, whether to vote or who to vote for?

“Anambra, nay Igbos, are still part and parcel of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Yes, we are not happy with our treatment in Nigeria.

Yes, some of us want Biafra. Yes, some of us prefer a restructured Federal Republic of Nigeria. But the fact remains that we are still part and parcel of the present Federal Republic of Nigeria, bound by its laws, no matter how repressive or unjust.

“Our approach to reforms of our laws even if it leads to self-determination or restructuring must be lawful. We must convince other Nigerians of our point of view, we must strive to make others share our convictions.

“Our language must be civil, respectful and lead to consensus building. We must resist any attempt to turn division amongst us, as to which way we must go, become a source of altercations between us.

“As we speak very many of our people living in Northern Nigeria are in complete awe and consternation regarding how safe they will be after October 1st. Other Northerners living amongst us are also worried.”

4 Nigerians face trial for £10m fraud in UK

Four suspected fraudsters, who are Nigerians, are being prosecuted for allegedly using the identities of civil servants to commit a £10 million scam in the United Kingdom, UK.

The accused were said to have stolen personal details from the Civil Service Sports Council, CSSC, to make fraudulent claims over a four-year period.

Member lists were stolen from CSSC and used to place orders for tax credit starter packs.

The gang, which reportedly made about £2,500,000, would have got away with £10,260,525 if staff at Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs had not discovered the high rate of claims being made by civil servants.

Adedamola Oyebisi, 30, CSSC events manager, was accused of stealing membership lists and passing them on to her brothers-in-law, Oluwatobe Emmanuel Odeyemi, 34, and Oluwagbenga Stephen Odeyemi, 39, who allegedly ran the fraud with Kayode Sanni, 38.

It was learned that Sanni denied being involved in the fraud and told Old Bailey jurors ‘my conscience is clear.’

He was convicted of one count of conspiracy to become knowingly concerned in a fraudulent act between March 10, 2009 and June 11, 2013. Emmanuel Odeyemi and Adedamole Oyebode have already pleaded guilty and will be sentenced with Sanni at the Old Bailey on July 6.

ConfedCup2017: Ronaldo in Pains, Bravo the Hero as Chile Sinks Portugal 3-0 in Epic Semi Final (Watch Highlights)

ConfedCup2017: Ronaldo in Pains, Bravo the Hero as Chile Sinks Portugal 3-0 in Epic Semi Final (Watch Highlights)

Claudio Bravo saved all three of Portugal's spot kicks in the penalty shoot-out after a goalless 120 minutes, with Chile set to play Germany or Mexico in the final.

Claudio Bravo saved three penalties as Chile reached the Confederations Cup final after a 3-0 shootout win over Portugal on Wednesday.

The Chile captain denied Ricardo Quaresma, Joao Moutinho and Nani to send his team into Sunday's final after the game in Kazan ended 0-0 after extra time.

Chile, who scored all three of their spot-kicks taken by Arturo Vidal, Charles Aranguiz and Alexis Sanchez, will face the winner of Germany against Mexico.

Nani missed the decisive penalty as Portugal did not call on Cristiano Ronaldo, who likely was scheduled to take the fifth.

Chile created the better opportunities and were unfortunate not to win the game in extra-time when they struck the woodwork twice in quick succession through Vidal and Martin Rodriguez.

Both teams made a bright start, with Chile going close after six minutes through Eduardo Vargas. He latched onto a pass from Sanchez but Rui Patricio smothered his effort.

ConfedCup2017: Ronaldo in Pains, Bravo the Hero as Chile Sinks Portugal 3-0 in Epic Semi Final (Watch Highlights)
Portugal responded inside a minute when Ronaldo created their best opportunity, teeing up Andre Silva at the back post.

But Bravo reacted smartly for Chile to deny the new AC Milan signing.

The only other opportunity before the interval fell to Aranguiz but the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder snatched at his far-post volley.

Both sides lacked ambition after the break but Chile continued to force the clearer chances. Vidal nodded over from Jean Beausejour's cross and Patricio saved sharply from Vargas' opportunistic volley.

Portugal looked sluggish in attack with captain Ronaldo their biggest threat. He tested Bravo with a firm strike on the hour mark and saw a deflected effort drop two yards wide but ultimately the two teams settled for extra-time.

Chile pushed hard for a winner as Sanchez squandered a free header in the first period, while they were denied a penalty when Jose Fonte tripped substitute Francisco Silva in the box.

When Vidal then Rodriguez struck crossbar and post in quick succession in the final minute of extra time it looked set for Portugal to triumph on penalties.

But Bravo stepped up to deny three Portugal substitutes in the shoot-out, sending Chile into Sunday's showpiece in St Petersburg.

Man of the match - Arturo Vidal

The Chile midfielder was all action throughout and came so close to snatching a winner for his country in the final minute of extra-time.

His penalty - Chile's first in the shoot-out - also helped set the tone before Bravo's heroics.

What next?

Chile will face the winner of Germany v Mexico in Sunday's final, while Portugal will take on the loser in the third-placed play-off earlier on the same day.

BREAKING News: Billionaire Kidnapper, Evans Files Fresh Suit Against Police, Demands N300m in Damages

BREAKING News: Billionaire Kidnapper, Evans Files Fresh Suit Against Police, Demands N300m in Damages
Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans

Following his arrest and parade, Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans has filed fresh suit against the Police demanding millions in damages.

Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans, has again dragged the Inspector General of Police, and three others before a Federal High Court in Lagos over his alleged illegal detention.

In the new suit filed on Thursday, Evans is claiming N300 million as general and exemplary damages against the police for alleged illegal detention and unconstitutional media trial.

Joined as respondents in his new originating motion are the Nigeria Police Force, the  Commissioner of Police Lagos State and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Police Command.

Evans had on June 28  filed an ex parte application with reference number FHC/L/CS/1012/2017, before the same court, seeking an order directing the respondents to charge him to court.

He had also in the alternative, sought an order directing the respondents to release him unconditionally where no charge is preferred against him.

In an affidavit deposed to by his father, Mr Stephen Onwuamadike, it was averred that the applicant has been subjected to media trial without any court  order by the respondents.

Onwuamadike further averred that the media trial and news orchestrated by the respondents have continued to generate reactions in both print and electronic media without his son being afforded fair hearing before a court of law.

Evans contended that his continued detention by the respondents since June 10, without a charge, or release on bail , is an infringement on his fundamental rights.

In his new suit also marked FHC/L/CS/1012/ 2017 and  with the same persons as respondents, the applicant is seeking a declaration that his continued detention since June 10 without arraignment, violates his fundamental rights as guaranteed under the 1999 Constitution.

He is also seeking a declaration that his parade on June 11 before journalists in Lagos, at the Lagos Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, without any court order, is unconstitutional and illegal .

He is consequently, seeking an order, compelling the respondents to immediately arraign him before a law court, or release him from custody forthwith.

‘Evans’’ is also seeking an order, compelling the respondents to jointly and severally, pay him the sum of N300 million as exemplary damages for illegal detention and alleged harm caused by the alleged  media trial.

The suspect is also  seeking  an order of perpetual injunction, restraining the respondents from further arresting, detaining, harassing, investigating or inviting him in relation to the facts of his case.

He is also  seeking  further orders as the court may deem fit, to make in the circumstances.[NAN]

Suleiman Lawal, Ugochukwu Usifo And Other Yahoo-yahoo Boys and a Woman Arrested in India for Duping People Using Fake Online Lottery

Suleiman Lawal, Ugochukwu Usifo And Other Yahoo-yahoo Boys and a Woman Arrested in India for Duping People Using Fake Online Lottery
The deadly Nigerian gang of scammers after they were arrested

Three Nigerian internet scammers have landed in serious trouble after they were caught in India duping people through fake online lottery.

The Crime Branch has arrested three Nigerian nationals and an Indian woman for allegedly duping a man of over ₹1.5 crore on the pretext of offering him lottery money.

The police are investigating whether there are more victims.

Lottery racket

Suleiman Lawal alias Benjamin (62), Ugochukwu Usifo alias Brown Bruno (32), Ichaba Lucky Igele (41), and Bandana Chettri alias Niki alias Anjali Gupta (43) allegedly cheated Punjab-based Kamaljeet Singh, who approached the Delhi Police on June 22.

He told the police that the accused had cheated him by promising a lottery prize worth several thousands of dollars by a famous brand a few months ago.

DCP (Crime Branch) G. Ram Gopal Naik said the gang sent bulk texts on mobile numbers obtained from social networking sites proclaiming lottery wins.

When Mr. Singh fell for the trap, he was asked to give details, including name, address and bank account information.

Next, the gang asked him to pay a registration fee of ₹10,000. After that, it asked for a few lakhs in the name of service charge and then a conversion charge.

Eventually, he was told that he would get tax exemption if he paid a few lakhs extra. The gang also forged documents by financial institutions to convince him.

After the complainant paid the amount demanded, Benjamin arrived at his house with a stack of money. “The money was in bundles. Only the first and the last notes were dollars. The rest were blank papers,” he said.

‘Poisonous substance’

Benjamin told him not to open the bundle as the ink had some poisonous substance that could lead to a chronic disease.

He told him that he could order a chemical from the U.S. to contain the effects of the ink. Mr. Singh fell for this trap as well.

The gang called him saying Benjamin had been arrested while picking up the chemical from the airport and asked him to pay ₹35 lakh as bribe.

“That’s when he got suspicious and approached us,” said Dr. Naik. They were arrested from Khirki Extension.- [TheHindu]

Yoruba Leaders Plotting to Make Yemi Osinbajo President? Here's What a Northern Group is Alleging

Yoruba Leaders Plotting to Make Yemi Osinbajo President? Here's What a Northern Group is Alleging
Osinbajo & Buhari

In a statement signed by Muhammed Shehu and Tanko Abdullahi, and was released on Wednesday, a Coalition of Arewa Youths has fired warning over alleged plot by Yoruba leaders.

A Coalition of Arewa Youths has warned that the alleged plot by Yoruba leaders to make Yemi Osinbajo President of Nigeria in Muhammadu Buhari’s stead will fail.

The coalition which issued the warning, in a statement signed by Muhammed Shehu and Tanko Abdullahi, also maintained that the North will complete its eight-year tenure.

Accusing Yoruba leaders of making efforts to discredit the North ahead of the 2019 election, the youths vowed to resist all the alleged plans and antics.

The statement reads, “We are very much aware that all the attacks against President Muhammadu Buhari were planted in the media by the Yoruba and spread by southerners generally just to discredit the north in order to pave way for their son, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to become president.

“But their plans will fail insha Allah.

“We shall resist every of such plans and ensure by all means possible, that the north completes its eight-year tenure and possibly even continue after then, and that the federal structure of Nigeria as it currently is, is not tampered with by secession mongers and their collaborators.”

Describing Yoruba’s as the “most ungrateful stock in Nigeria,” the group said, “Having given power to the Yoruba on a platter of gold in 1999 as a way of compensating them for the June 12 saga, it is quite worrisome and unfortunate that they have lived up to their legendary reputation of backstabbing and betrayal by supporting the divisive calls for restructuring or dismemberment of the nation against the will and desire of the north.

“We gave the late Chief MKO Abiola the mandate in 1993 but shortly after that, as it is with the Yoruba as a culture, they immediately started circling around Abiola plotting on how to emasculate the north and strip us of every access we had to the politics and economy of this nation.

“They had also raised a secret army of their elites to carry out these sinister plans against the north if Abiola eventually became president.

It was this army that was unleashed on the nation in the guise of NADECO during the June 12 impasse.

“May we remind the Yoruba that without the willingness and magnanimity of the north, there was no way Abiola could have purportedly won that election, and that all the Yoruba have now as assets in the south west, especially Lagos, were given to them by our leaders out of our own usual magnanimity.

“However, time and time again, the Yoruba have always turned their back on us whenever their support is needed.

They have chosen to pitch tent with the Igbo this time around just to spite us, but we shall not succumb to their antics.”

Buhari is on life support in London – Fayose alleges

Buhari on life support in London – Fayose alleges

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari has been on “life support for 20-days.”

Fayose made the allegation while berating Buhari’s handlers over the non-disclosure of the President’s health situation.

In a statement he personally signed and sent to DAILY POST by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, Fayose urged Nigerians to pray for the President.

The statement reads, “Today, it makes 53 days since our President; Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria to attend to his health challenges abroad. No official information as to his whereabouts and his state of health.

“Like every other Nigerians, I do not wish the president dead, I have therefore maintained dignified silence since we were told that the President embarked on his second medical trip abroad this year.

“However, the recorded audio message which was released by the Presidency as the President’s Ramadan message to Nigerians necessitated my setting the records straight today.

“No doubt, the audio message was only a damage-control strategy aimed at further deceiving Nigerians.

“I have therefore elected in good conscience to state as follows:

“That the audio message does not represent the truth as our President does not only have voice impairment, he has been on life-support since June 6, 2017 at a West-End, London Hospital.

“Of a fact, our First Lady, Her Excellency, Mrs Aisha Buhari was not allowed to see her husband during her last visit to the United Kingdom if only she will be courageous enough to admit.

“Only three Nigerians who are of the President’s cabal are allowed access to the President. I will keep their identities for now.

“Anyone with contrary claim should produce the President to Nigerians within the next 48 hours.

“It is obvious that Nigeria is drifting like the last days of the Yar’Adua’s government.

“Nigerians will recall that I warned against electing President Buhari on the account of his age, health and mental capacity.

Nigerians will also recall that when they released pictures to the press claiming that President Buhari had an interview with Kemi Fadojutimi of “All Eyes on Africa” TV Show in London, on Monday, February 23, 2015, I proved to the whole world that the interview was conducted in suite 881 at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

“Hate me or like me, again I am putting Nigerians on notice on the present state of health of our president.

“In closing, let me state that I am not unaware of the various attempts on my life; I am undaunted as I remain committed to truth and fearlessness because a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.

“Dear Nigerians, even though President Buhari needs our prayers and we should keep praying that God takes total control of his situation, it is equally imperative that our leaders must tell us the truth at all times.

“It is time that the President takes the interests of Nigerians above his own and resign from office so that our country can move forward.

“The fate of Nigeria and its people must not remain in the hands of the Presidency cabal, our country must be set free.”

Unbelievable: How ISIS Terrorists Cooked a Baby Boy and Fed Him to His Own Hungry Mother

Unbelievable: How ISIS Terrorists Cooked a Baby Boy and Fed Him to His Own Hungry Mother
Vian Dakhill cried while giving details of a how a girl was r*ped

In what will come across as a really shocking development, a baby boy has been cooked by ISIS terrorists and fed to his mother.

An Iraqi MP has claimed that the deadly terrorist sect, ISIS, butchered and cooked the baby son of a Yazidi s*x slave held captive in a cellar and fed him to his unsuspecting and starving mother.

According to The Sun UK, Vian Dakhill also revealed during an emotional TV interview that a ten-year-old girl was raped to death by evil jihadists in front of her father and five sisters.

ISIS zealots believe they are free to murder, rape, torture and abuse Yazidi women because they are considered devil worshippers by many in the Middle East.

The politician told Egyptian TV channel Extra News: “One of the women we managed to retrieve from ISIS said that she was held in a cellar for three days without food or water.

“Afterwards, they brought her a plate of rice and meat, she ate the food because she was very hungry.”

She added: “When she was finished they said to her: ‘We cooked your one-year-old son that we took from you, and this is what you just ate’.”

The male interviewer paused for a moment to wipe tears from his eyes as she recounted the terror group’s atrocity.

She then told the station about the appalling murder of a little girl, revealing: “One of the girls said that they took six of her sisters.

“Her younger sister, a ten-year-old girl, was raped to death in front of her father and sisters. She was ten-years-old.

“The question that we ask ourselves is: ‘Why? Why did these savages do this to us?’.”

She also revealed that her people were buying captive women and girls back from ISIS thugs.

Ms Dakhill added: “One (ISIS terrorist) may call and say he holds a certain girl and wants to sell her. They call the girl’s family and we buy her.

“I apologise for using this word. We buy them. We, the Yazidis, in the 21st century, buy our daughters and our women.”

Dakhill, the only Yazidi in the Iraqi Parliament, gained international attention when she made a plea for international assistance for Yazidis trapped by ISIS on Sinjar Mountain.

She accused ISIS of genocide against the Yazidi people.

Yazidism is an ancient faith that integrates some Islamic beliefs with elements of Zoroastrianism, the ancient Persian religion, and Mithraism, a religion originating in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Yazidis began to face accusations of devil worship from Muslims in the late 16th and early 17th centuries.

While the Yazidis believe in one god, a central figure in their faith is Tawusi Melek, an angel who defies God and serves as an intermediary between man and the divine.

The Yazidi account of Tawusi Melek often sounds like the Qof Shaytan - the devil in the Koran - even though Tawusi Melek is a force for good in the Yazidi religion.
