Chelsea took a huge step towards the Premier League title as Eden Hazard's first-half brace saw off Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard opened the scoring and restored Chelsea's lead 10 minutes before the break after Sergio Aguero levelled for the visitors, converting at the second attempt after Willy Caballero saved his tame penalty.

Swansea took the lead early through Wayne Routledge but for the vast majority of the game they were defending very deep in their own half as Spurs piled on endless pressure.

City pressed for a leveller throughout the second half but Chelsea held out for the ideal response to Saturday's shock loss to Crystal Palace.

With the gap at the summit remaining at seven points with eight games to play after nearest rivals Tottenham came back for a dramatic late 3-1 win over Swansea City.

However as the game entered the last stretch a shot from Christian Eriksen was deflected into the path of Dele Alli, who tapped into the empty net.

Swansea were evidently shell-shocked and things soon got worse when a long ball from the back found Son his shot found the back of the net despite the best efforts from Lukasz Fabianski.

Goals from Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott and substitute Olivier Giroud threw West Ham right back into the relegation mixed and eased the mounting pressure on Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners came into the match amidst mounting dissatisfaction from fans surrounding the future of their manager and a half full crowd reflected that.

A tepid first half in which the home side mustered only one shot on target didn’t bode well but then Arsenal turned on the kind of football they’re renowned for, Ozil’s shot bouncing in front of Darren Randolph and setting them on their way.

Randolph may have been at fault for the opener but had little chance with the others, Sanchez and Ozil combining to set up Walcott before Giroud came off the bench to settle matters with a beautiful curling shot into the far corner.

Victory for Arsenal means they climb back above Manchester United to fifth in the table but for the unhappy Hammers, five defeats on the bounce leaves them only four points above the drop zone.
