Dr. Megan Meier, a sports medicine and dance medicine physician, became a social media celebrity overnight after posting this image of herself at work during a high school football game in her native Oklahoma.
35 weeks pregnant Meier had reported to work with her three-year-old daughter strapped to her back
and wrote on the caption of the picture:
‘Sports Medicine Doctor Mom – this is what happens when you are 35 weeks pregnant, husband leaves town for the weekend, childcare for 3yo falls through, and you have a game to cover!’
Meier had initially intended to share the photo with other mothers who were also physicians. Little did she know, however, that it would strike a chord with working moms in a variety of fields who must cope with the challenges of juggling career and family responsibilities.
The image quickly went viral, generating some 2,800 likes, 130 comments, and nearly 660 shares.
