She sobbed as she felt my hands around her shoulder. The tears in her eyes increased. I wanted to say something but I dint know what to say her. Telling her sorry; would definitely add more pains to her.
I just sat down with her while stylishly using my hands to rub up and down her shoulder. We were like that for awhile when Chidinma broke the silence.
Chidinma: itâs almost 4pm Femi. I think I should start.
Me: (smiling) okay Chidinma⊠normal lessons starts tomorrow. mind you: tomorrow is my appointment with Doctor Ayeni. We will go together: thatâs if you donât mind?
Chidinma: (smiling) no problem⊠we will go together. Bidemi, do take care of yourself! Greet Kikelomo for me (waved at Funmilayo).
Bidemi: okay
Chidinma left for her house. Funmilayo and I just kept staring into each others eyes; not knowing what to do nor say. It was quite long that Chidinma left that Kikelomo entered the room. She dint even greet any of us.
Kikelomo: (serious tone) what are you doing beside her Femi? I donât think itâs Bidemi that have a problem; I think itâs you. You kept leading her into thinking that what sheâs doing is the right thing. Just keep on leading her on; I have said my own and I will continue saying itâŠ.. and you Bidemi, what are still doing seating down? you better pack your things and let us go.
Bidemi did not even utter a word. She just picked her bag and headed straight to the door. Kikelomo followed her and they headed to the hospital as they ought to.
I was now left with Funmilayo. She just kept staring and smiling at intervals.
Me: what is it?
Funmilayo: (smiling) itâs only brother Segun that I thought that likes girls. YouâŠ. (cuts her off)
Me: (smiling) Iâm still not compared to Badoo. Heâs a bomb and he knows that himself.
Funmilayo: I know heâs good but I have not seen girls fighting over him in public.
Me: itâs BidemiâŠ. I just donât know what I did to her? she loves me dearly that it scares me; even when Iâm with her.
Funmilayo: can I ask you a question?
Me: sureâŠ
Funmilayo: like I have said, itâs just a question. Donât get angry over it please.
Me: (thinking) okay
Funmilayo: have you slept with Bidemi?
Me: hanhanâŠ. you are still young to be talking about sleeping with someone or not. Okay⊠I have not slept with her.
Funmilayo: I donât believe you. If you have not actually done something like that to her; then she has no right to get so attached to you. With what she did the other day and today; I think she can kill because of you.
I kept quiet for awhile and reasoned with what Funmilayo said. If truly I have slept with her; I would have being indebted to her forever. She wonât even allow me to talk with any ladies at all (including my mum and Funmilayo). I tried convincing Funmilayo about not making love to her but she dint believe me.
I decided to let the case rest by telling her to cook rice for me. She headed to the kitchen and I dialled Motunrayoâs number. She picked after like 3 beeps.
Motunrayo: hello Femi⊠Iâm sorry for not making it today and not calling to inform you. My dad asked me to do some things and I couldnât get it done on time.
Me: itâs nothing jare⊠Iâm missing you. I feel like hearing your voice and thatâs why I called.
I said some interesting words to her and she kept giggling at the end of the other phone. She promised to see me tomorrow. I looked forward in seeing her tomorrow. I ended the phone with a smile on my face.
Motunrayo can come over now; at least I wonât be bothered by the Adeboyeâs for now. I was still thinking how Iâm going to invite her over with Chidinma still coming tomorrow when a message tone beep on my phone.
I checked it. Itâs First bank credit alert. I hurriedly checked the message.
Itâs an alert of N300k and itâs sent by Adedoyin. I connected a call to her and she picked.
Adedoyin: hello Femi.. I hope you are doing fine now?
Me: (pretending by yawning) yes: Iâm much okay now. The message tone on my phone woke me up. Thanks for sending me money. I really appreciate it .
Adedoyin: (giggles) itâs nothing. Iâm just concerned about your well being. Itâs good to know that you are fine.
Me: (smiling) thank you dear. What about Sarah? Is she not with you?
Adedoyin: no⊠actually we were together a couple of hours ago before she went to her husbands place. oops, hope she told you that sheâs still attached to her husband.
Me: (smiling) yes: she did. What about her proposal?
Adedoyin: it seems both of you have a lot of things together. I never expected her to tell you such things.
Me: (sounding confused) how do you mean?
Adedoyin: itâs something that she ought to keep to ourselves; besides itâs not as if you can help her situation.
Me: (voice saddens) okay.. I now understand you. Itâs supposed to be just business as usual. Thatâs a very harsh things to say.
Adedoyin: I dint mean it that way Femi. I know that you are very caring but I just did not expected her to divulge things that deep to you.
Me: (unhappy voice) itâs nothing⊠itâs not as if I can help her. What do I even have to offer her? Nothing! Your point is clearer now.
She was about to say something but I ended the call rudely before her words starts forming phrases or clauses. She called back like three times before I eventually picked her call.
Me: hello..
Adedoyin: why do you have to end the call on me like that?
Me: my⊠my airtime got finished.
Adedoyin: and you have to wait for the third time before picking up. You surprised me.
Me: (voice raised) I just donât want to talk with you for now.
Adedoyin: (voice calm) so itâs because of Sarah that you donât want to talk with me.
Me: donât bring Sarah into this. Sheâs not even aware of whatâs going on right now. Itâs just between you and I. From now on, I will stop asking of Sarah from you. If I want to ask her anything: I have her number and I will call her.
Adedoyin: (low voice) so you like Sarah more than me?
Me: if I want to go by what you said: I donât like anyone of you asides doing business with her.
Adedoyin: (voice shaking) you are taking it to far FemiâŠ.
Me: (Funmilayo enters) I have to go now. My sister just brought in my food; I want to eat and take my drugs.
Adedoyin: okay⊠tell me you love me.
Me: ooh, my little sister is here now.
Adedoyin: if truly you want me to believe thatâs your little sister, just tell me you love me or say my name as you ends the call.
Me: (staring at Funmilayo) I love you Adedoyin.
Adedoyin: (giggles) love you too (ends the call)
I looked at Funmilayo and I was not surprised when she asked me who was Adedoyin?
Me: (smiling) she is just a very naughty friend. She wants to know if Iâm truly with you.
Funmilayo: okay⊠just take it easy with your female friends, they are getting too much now. Adedoyin again (now smiling)
She was not really convinced: but who cares anyway? I devoured the food and I laid down my head to rest. Funmilayo walked out of the room with the empty plate. I yawned.
Iâm feeling sleepy. I looked at my phone and puts it on silent. I slept off. I woke up around 8pm in the evening. As expected, missed calls on my phone. I placed the phone under the pillow and I went to the living room. I met my parents with Funmilayo all seated there. My parents asked about my health.
Me: Iâm very fine now. Funmilayo can go to school tomorrow. Chidinma can babysits me tomorrow.
Mummy: okay, thatâs very good.
My dad gave me N5000: incase I needed to buy anything. I collected the money and thanked him like I really needed the money. I sat with them and we chatted on family issues.
To Be ContinuedâŠ
